For Chevy 6.5L diesels equipped
with the Stanadyne DS4 type electronic fuel injection pump, stalling, hard starting, and
hesitation are symptoms of a failing FSD.

The FSD (fuel solenoid driver) or PMD (pump mounted driver as Stanadyne refers to
it), has been a major problem for Chevy / GMC 6.5L diesel owners since the introduction of
the 6.5L electronically controlled DS4 fuel injection pump. It has been determined that
heat is the primary cause of FSD failures. The FSD is mounted to the fuel injection pump
from the factory. But as it turns out, the injection pump does not provide adequate
cooling to keep the FSD functional. Once the engine begins showing symptoms of hesitating,
stalling and hard starting, the problem will only worsen with time. The problem only
becomes more serious when considering the potential danger of your engine stalling in a
situation such as pulling into heavy traffic or descending a steep hill and losing the use
of power brakes and steering. It is recomended that the FSD Cooler and FSD are replaced as
a set for best results.
Here is the solution!

Tests show that when using the FSD Cooler, FSD
temperatures will drop anywhere from 32° to 81° F* depending on driving conditions.
These temperature drops will seriously increase the life of the FSD and can save you money
from towing and costly repairs. The FSD Cooler easily mounts to the intake manifold of
your engine within reach of the wiring harness plug for the FSD. Installation is quick,
simple and does not require any modifications or special tools. The FSD Cooler kit comes
with everything needed to mount the FSD to the intake manifold. |

If your FSD has failed, then you will need to
replace it when you install the FSD Cooler. Please visit
our Chevy Page for prices on the FSD Cooler and
the FSD module.
Each FSD includes a new wiring
harness.
