Electronic Daytime Running Light Module
|
|
| Cole Hersee announces the availability of daytime
running light modules, an emergency technology that enhances
the safety of vehicles. These electronic products allow headlights
to stay on whenever the vehicle is running to improve visibility
and safety. Researchers estimate that one out of every seven
vehicle accidents happen simply because the driver "didn't
see" the other vehicle. Daytime Running Lights (DRL's)
allow drivers to be seen. It virtually lowers the number of
accidents. Along with the safety benefit, Cole Hersee's DRL's
feature built-in circuit protection and automatic activation
with a ten second delay. All modules meet or exceed CSA, ASE
and NHTSA guidelines. |

In the United States, a seven month, six state study by Avis, Inc.
showed that their DRL equipped cars averaged 69% less damage than
rental vehicles without DRL's.
- Turns low beam headlights on at 75% of normal intensity when
the ignition switch is turned on.
- Ten second delay after ignition switch is turned on to reduce
starting load on battery.
- Automatically brings headlights to full brightness when the
headlamp switch is activated.
- The first daytime running light module with built in circuit
protection.
- 100% solid state.
- Environmentally sealed.
- Works with domestic and foreign cars, trucks, RV's and buses.
- Complies with FMVSS 108 for headlamp intensity (candela output);
CMVSS-108 and CAN/CSA=D603-88, Type 2.
The Cole Hersee DRL (daytime Running light) is a fully automatic control
that activates two low beam headlights in a reduced intensity mode
for daytime operation. It is automatically activated, with a ten second
delay, by turning the ignition switch to the "on" position.
The DRL remains active until one or more of the following conditions
occur:
A) Headlights are turned on manually, B) Parking brake is activated,
C) Ignition switch is turned to off.
The DRL function returns when conditions A, B, and C are removed.
Vehicle requirements: The DRL module can only be used in vehicles
having a 12 volt system. Vehicles not suited for DRL operation include
those with concealed headlights, or headlights that are activated
by grounding the low side of the lamp (low side switching). These
vehicles include, but are not limited to the following: Mitsubishi,
Hyundai, Toyota, Suzuki, Suburu, Colt, Vista, Challenger and Sapporo.
Consult your vehicle dealer or service technician if you have questions.
